Three by Dwayne LeBlanc: CIVIC, NOW HEAR ME GOOD, YOU DO NOT EXIST
doors: 7:30
film: 8:00
Among the most exciting Los Angeles-based independent filmmakers to emerge this decade, Dwayne LeBlanc’s rigorous and hypnotic films are tactile snapshots of a life in transition, each following the travels of a single character (portrayed by Barrington Darius) between L.A. and Europe. Set in intimate spaces—the interior of a car, at a crowded party, or in the backyard—and imbuing them with a deeply felt lyricism and texture, LeBlanc’s filmmaking is filled with inspired and intuitive choices, taking a polyphonic approach to depicting community life on screen.
Widely acclaimed after screening at international film festivals, these three short films will be screening together for the first time with the filmmaker in person, including the L.A. premiere of his brand-new film YOU DO NOT EXIST, followed by a conversation with writer Harmony Holiday.
